That JRE interview is from 2021, so it seems like Avi's whole thing is to try and bring attention to the fact that we need to start considering the possibility of discovering alien artifacts in space. Even if they belong to an alien race that has been dead for a billion years, it doesn't negate the fact that they contributed some of their own space junk, they were alive at one point and therefore we are not alone in the universe.
I think this is where he's coming from, and he's just using these 3 interstellar objects, especially the two that seem "unusual" as example cases to highlight the need for us to be more open minded to what we might discover out there at some point.
So I can respect that.
A lot of people might just think Loeb is a crank, and it's an easy assumption. But I think it's important to consider that he's got a bigger mission than just legitimately honest to God believing that every interstellar rock is an alien ship. He's just using this narrative to prove a point, and it is a valid point.
