He kinda already did though, when he came back for New Blood he said Dexter had to die at the end, otherwise he wasn't doing it.
And it sucked. Lol.
It only sucked cuz the character died. HOW he died didn't really suck. In fact, I found it quite acceptable for him to be killed by his own son, even though it's sort of warped. But, who better, really?
You just can't kill Dexter... it's not going to work unless it's natural causes.
