It's ultra seasoned. I like it when a deck is super worn out.
I've been working on this deck for about a year and it's reached that worn in aesthetic that I like.
I love this. It's nice when something gets some texture, some life, some energy, history. It's been through some shit, but instead of getting all hard and rigid it softens in a good way.
I like the Rider-Waite deck. I feel like it's the most neutral of the decks. Crowley's and Lady Frieda Harris' Thoth deck, by contrast, is pretty fucking dark. Waite and Crowley weren't exactly friends, but I think Crowley took it more seriously than Waite. They were both men of letters and high up in the Golden Dawn, but Waite I think was classier, more refined, and Crowley more creative, eccentric, the superior writer. Crowley wrote several scathing articles about Waite, and Waite could never be bothered to take it seriously. As far as working within the context of the Tree of Life, I think both decks offer some of the best correlating imagery, with Waite's edging ahead due to less energy baggage (I seem to recall reading somewhere that Crowley was very demanding of Lady Frieda Harris and it crossed into abuse).
