they call it selling your soul to the devil. some things aren't so un-doable. she could attempt to break away and even openly talk about what all has happened but... they no doubt have enough on her to make her an example to the rest of the MKdrones. sheen/bynes style character assassination. Crappening style assassination, etc.
you say it's really not that difficult [for an individual] to turn their life around, and that is true, but a media whore is not an individual. they are divided many times, particularly against themselves.
