I have heard it theorized over the years that Ted Bundy was attempting to be a politician. I've heard that he was getting started in the politician thingy and as such, he was becoming initiated. As part of the initiation of course, heinous acts which could later be used as blackmail had to be committed in order to secure loyalty. It's been theorized that Ted was so weird and crazy that the other members (politicians etc) thought he was a 'weak link' and decided to kick him out of the club essentially. Then after that, he just continued to kill people because that's just what the fucking guy did. Eventually he got caught.

It goes along with the theory that Ted was into bizarre ritual. I saw somebody say once that 'they don't tell you the kind of things Ted really did to his victims' or something like that. Apparently it was ritualistic, and it's a believable theory since he refers to an 'entity' that was within him, I think he even said that in the interview I linked above. I dunno, I'd have to watch it again. I actually haven't seen that in a while. Maybe I should examine it.
