speed of light and sound have nothing to do with manipulating exceedingly large sticks. the lorentz force of the pusher interacts with the field of the exposed side of the stick, causing it to exert its lorentz force on the next molecule, so on and so forth. assuming the stick has structural integrity, and assuming the pusher has sufficient force, and there's no friction or shearing effects, the stick moves exactly as it would in smaller scale.
the real thought experiment, which the guy didn't even seem to mention, is that with a stick of sufficient theoretical length, the movement on the far side from the pusher would appear to be reacting faster than time required for light to pass from point A to B. this is poor logic. no information in that example is even violating the alleged speed of light barrier. each molecule is interacting with the one before / after it in their own frame of reference through the lorentz forces. [the studies i've read indicate that nothing actually touches anything else physically, it's just fields of atoms/molecules interacting with the fields of other atoms/molecules. atoms and molecules aren't even physical things, it's just forms of energy at certain harmonics that either interact with or ignore other forms of energy.]
