It’s just that they can’t get away with using online references and portraying their characters to be ‘children of the internet’ if they don’t even grasp the principles behind what that means.
Because their audience, of which a large percentage is these ‘children of the internet’, are gonna be turned off when they’re obviously being pandered to, but it’s off the mark and clearly coming from people who don’t know their shit.
And nobody’s gonna let ‘em in the club either...
They need an insider to tweak/approve their references, or they need to learn the principles themselves. If they can’t do either of those things, it’s best to leave those references out entirely.
