People in STEM have always had little in common with more social-oriented people. That's why the former are universally disparaged by the latter as social misfits and nerds. Unfortunately, the onus is always on the nerds to conform to the expectations of the social butterflies. Is it any wonder we wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire?
