I think that it’s most likely that those emails etc. are being provided by somebody who had official reason to go through Elliot’s stuff...
If I’m wrong it wouldn’t be the first time.
People would have no respect for Elliot as a dead guy... if they had pics of his dead body, they would be released. And it’s a common theme with ops that they never show pics of the perp’s body. Not necessarily saying the Elliot thing was an ops, but... it certainly has some stereotypical oddities.
