Elliot's videos showed a person who really believed what he said, and therefore his psychological state as observed in those videos is perfectly valid to study.
As far as the manifesto...
I'd like to have seen him write it, in just about the same way as I'd like to have seen photo proof of his dead body.
I don't think he ever mentioned the manifesto in any of his videos... as far as I know, he didn't.
While I have listened to the manifesto audiobook style (thanks to BasedShaman's channel), and it does seem to somewhat line up with the Elliot we saw in his videos...
I don't regard his manifesto as something worth studying beyond the first few reads or listens. At least most certainly not for anyone trying to take those writings at face value in an attempt to understand Elliot. If one approached the manifesto keeping in mind that it was all a perception that Elliot (or whoever wrote it) was trying to hard to paint, then it might be worth time to study... but only from the standpoint of the life portrayed in the writings being highly dramatized. Especially if Elliot wrote it... the perception of himself and his life was completely askew and inaccurate. He had perceptive issues when it came to self-worth etc. that were literally psychotic.
If one is attempting to help a crazy person, is it pertinent to listen to their insane ramblings that are far detached from any reality that is shared between that person and the observer? Maybe that's a matter of opinion.
But I am just saying, it's a lot more worthwhile to look at video and photos of Elliot if one wants to get a grasp on who he really was. If you want to know who someone is, you don't ask them for the answer... you look at their actions, which always speak louder than words.
