Well, it may sound bad but... you actually didn't make any bad decisions. You just fulfilled the plot. You did everything you were meant to do. Regardless of your perception of whether it was good or bad, etc. Suffering is inherent in life, it's there no matter what. You never know what your kids will go on to do. Probably some pretty amazing things. You'll protect them from above anyway. No reason to be hard on yourself about any of it, to any degree.
