It sounds like you really already know what you want to make.

I really don't though.

I know there's gonna be a webring component where like-minded sites can be loosely affiliated without sharing content and user data. Each site should be its own distinct community, but still provide a way to explore related communities.

There will be a blog(ish) component and/or a forum(ish) component. Having both might be redundant since they function similarly. I don't have any novel ideas about how to combine the two though.

I've thought about making a platform like that for years but I've never done it. And I'm not even as equipped as you.

Sounds like you do have some ideas then. I'm not asking for technical expertise, I have that part covered. Just toss out some ideas you'd like to see as an end user.
