I don’t even consider “sites” that only work on mobile apps to be “the internet”

I'm not keen on requiring people to post personal pics or any other PI. I guess they can leave it blank if they don't want to use it though.

I want a community games section where games like Tetris can be embedded and it could keep score and people could battle each other.

Those would be interesting projects, but I'd have to save them for last if I were to do them from scratch because they'd be pretty labor intensive and hold the rest of the project up for quite some time. I want to get a basic package out the door rather quickly. There could be free plugins already out there that we could use. I know there are Java and Flash versions of a lot of old games.

I liked this aspect of MySpace, although some users took it way too far, and their profiles ended up being unreadable and unnavigable. A lot of amateur page designers use font colors and background pics that make their pages extremely hard to read. Some restraint would have to be enforced. For example, ready-made color schemes. A guy in Canada whose site I posted on a long time ago wrote a PHP class to generate color schemes, but it has disappeared from the Web. There should be something similar out there though.

Okay, so this would be like a "wall," except it would only contain that user's posts.

Maybe there could be a separate wall somewhere to show all of your followed users' wall posts.

There should also be a live 'comments' or 'chatbox' on our profiles, which could be enabled or disabled by us.

Chatrooms, shout boxes, and comment sections are more or less all the same thing from a technical perspective. I can write one module that can be plopped down anywhere it's needed.

All of this reminds me of a really cool and original site I posted on years ago. The sysop needed donations to keep it running, but all of the members were new age socialist types who didn't grasp the concept that nothing is free, so he had to shut it down. Such a pity, as it was one of the coolest sites I'd ever seen. There was a chatroom always running on the lefthand side that made it feel like you were in a real physical place. Wish I could remember more about it because it would blow today's social media out of the water.
