About photos...
I built an elaborate photo system with galleries, resizing and cropping, EXIF/IPTC data extraction, and the whole 9 yards for my company's CMS some 6 years ago. I gotta be honest, I'm over it now.
I. Just. Can't.
Not again.
So we're gonna take a page from the red boards and greatly simplify the software design here. Most red boards had a general photo dump where you upload a photo and get a bbcode tag to paste into your post.
Users will be able to post photos on their blogs, but not on the forum or other public areas. There will be no galleries per se.
Uploaded photos will expire and be deleted from the dump after a period to be determined by the sysop.
Glad that's settled.
As for other types of files, each user will have a file library on their profile. Because file sharing is a crucial aspect of old school BBSing, am I right? I have in mind to do ANSI art viewers, textfile readers, .DIZ info extraction, and other such nerdy as fuck retro stuff eventually.
