Yeah, I'm totally not gonna do the whole "import a whole webpage" thing with links. Faecesbook does that to misappropriate content from other sites. I'm going to include an .htaccess file to block Faecesbook and Twatter from importing content.

I think automatically converting a URL to a regular hyper link has been pretty standard on message boards for years, so I'm going to do that for convenience. People can still use the url bbcode tag if they want to do fake link trolls.

One concession I will make to social media is @mentions and #hashtags. The @mention will obviously link to that user's profile.

There are several useful things we could do with #hashtags. The tag could link to search results for that word. Or it  could be like an AOL keyword that links to a specific page containing authoritative info about that subject.

The point being, social media has introduced some features that helped evolve the Web, and we shouldn't throw out the baby with the bath water for the sake of being retro.
