Memory and cognition: Calling family members by the wrong name

This study notes that the wrong name slip up can happen with family member names, including dogs! They go on to say that pet cat's names are not a part of this phenomenon and that this proves a special connection between dogs and humans. I can personally attest that I have called a family member (a child) the name of the family dog on accident!
