Oh hell yes I love Mega Drive.

OMGGG.

Genba...

Is retrowave not the greatest shit to happen to music since like 2010?

It almost gives me hope for the future...

i've been playing entire retrowave albums from youtube as my background music; osaka sewers is fuckin great.

still think aphex twin is by far the greatest.

that one's got this `rising edge` that i can barely describe that i've experienced with certain chemical/spiritual experiences.

Yeah man... Aphex Twin is a lot more than just 'music'. It's very intentional.

As for retrowave... RARELY is there a good retrowave song with lyrics. Unless it's like 18 Carat Affair or something. Basically never like retrowave with words. Luckily it usually doesn't have any.

Retrowave should have no words. Ever.

There's a few good songs with lyrics, but they're never good unless the singing style is also in line with the retro sound. Retrowave music with 'new' sounding vocals makes me fucking sick.

Here are a couple examples of retrowave with good vocals (if it's GOTTA have 'em)...

His voice has a good 80s kinda sound somehow... still slightly cringey but bearable and almost definable as "good".

Now that is one of my favorite retrowave tracks afflicted with vocals. I would even go so far as to say I like her voice and she does a great job encapsulating that 80s vibe.

It's amazing to me that these retrowave artists aren't famous as fuck right now...

Where's the retrowave radio station?

I guess it's all on the internet these days...

I guess it's all up to us.

yeah, it's not as `marketable` as mainstream crap, and no lyrics to program the masses.

unless i'm in certain emo moods, i really don't care for lyrics. i love a perfect circle, but if i'm not feelin down it just doesn't strike chords with me.

Dude you're exactly right...

That's why masses aren't noticing and it isn't on the radio...

Because there's no programming.

Wow, just fucking wow.

That bullshit has gotta change...

LOL, fucking change that shit.

I predicted that under a Trump Presidency there would be a retrowave radio station...

I'm calling it...

NOW.

Are lyrics bad if nobody has a fucking clue what they're saying? Whaaa

OMG hell yeaaah!!!

+100 points for posting some awesome retro weirdass shit I've never heard!!!

I think illegible lyrics are great as long as it's set to some nice music...

If it's some satanic sounding shit I say it's bad though!!!

When in reality it could be anything.

Kinda dangerous, kinda attractive.

For example most of 18 Carat Affair's song lyrics are a total shrug, but really catchy (how the fuck?)...

That's my favorite album ever. So glad you like it! Here's the whole thing, or most of it.

One of the songs sounds like the sweetest thing you ever heard, but the lyrics are supposedly very caustic and hateful.

actually it's quite interesting with the foreign / unintelligible lyrics. it feels to me like it bypasses that mood based resonance. aphex has a great example using unintelligible lyrics sparingly:

no fucking clue what they're saying, but it's so fuckin catchy and i want to sing it. it's like the mind can't fully render what's being sensed but wants to, but can't, but wants to, SO FUCKIN JAM OUT TO IT YEAHHHHHHH
