GM really should reopen Pontiac just to build the Trans Am

The latest Trans Am is built in very limited quantities by a custom shop under license. They buy Camaros from GM, restyle them, and put in a Buick 455 engine. Consequently, the cars are quite expensive.

The Camaro is a cool car, but the Trans Am has a certain mythic resonance all its own. Think Smokey and the Bandit and The Rockford Files.

Jim Rockford's car was actually a Firebird Formula 400, not a Trans Am. But still....

Fun fact: The Firebird underwent a styling change while The Rockford Files was on the air. Sometimes they would cut in old footage showing the older style car, while he drove the newer one for most of the episode.

Except for that I don't really care for cars with bodies that low to the ground, in fact kinda hate 'em...

That said, cars for the most part have just been fugly for the past couple decades.

Bring back cool looking cars.

Those low to the ground sports style cars are death traps.

But at least they look cool.

In the 50s-80s, mostly everybody had cool looking cars.

Muscle cars.

I know what you mean. I got hit in the right rear of my 280-ZX while making a left turn as the light was changing. People can't see you in a low car like that, what with all of the grotesquely large pickups and SUVs on the road today.

SUV owners should have their asses kicked just for being herd-following normies.

360 degree cameras...

Just saying.

They do sooo much stupid shit to new cars these days, where are the 360 degree view cameras?

Try putting in some features that are actually useful into these new cars.

The thing about big SUVs like the Suburban is that they were originally intended as farm trucks.

Not every Karen in America is qualified to drive a fucking farm truck as a daily driver.

The most idiotic thing about car sales is that people are allowed to buy whatever car they want, whether they're competent to drive it or not.

I wouldn't want cameras or touch screen video displays or any of that crap in my Trans Am.

Best point I've ever heard anybody make.

Me either, I hate those screens, they are distracting and the sun glares on them.

I think the government made them do it the last time they bailed out GM.

The Banshee wasn't produced because they thought it would cut into Corvette sales.

The name Firebird was originally given to several concept cars before the pony car we know and love was introduced.
