Yeah the chick in that episode is the reason I was so paranoid over the chick in the "Innocent Broad" episode from lastnight.

I know James Arness wore some kind of platform so he could balance out the length he lost on one of his legs from his injuries in the war. But I don't think that would contribute much to the size difference we see between him and the other actors... I think they could be using camera trickery or other methods to accentuate size differences.

On the last page of the closing credits, you see the Westrex Recording logo. It appears in a lot of old movies. This is the noiseless recording process I mentioned previously. It was developed by Western Electric, the manufacturing arm of the old AT&T. Their logo appears in even earlier films. Because of AT&T's regulated monopoly status, they had to spin Westrex off into a separate company.

S2 E24
It's hard to believe Blake was only 26 when this series started. She doesn't look old, but she has a maturity not often seen in a woman of that age.

Yeah for some reason I felt the same way... there's an air of maturity to her that would make me place her in her early 30s at the start of the series, right there with James Arness at 32. I think Amanda Blake's exposure to a lot of sun on her fair ginger skin along with the heavy smoking may have made her look a little older than her time as the series progressed. The Kitty I remember from back in the day was in color and appeared to be ~40... that said, those memories are from half-watching Gunsmoke for a very brief minute or two before I either turned the TV off or went to do something else.

You can see the effects of the sun on her skin in a lot of scenes. It's most noticeable on her arms.
I'd guess from her overall appearance that she was about 32 as well, but her face still looks about mid to late 20s.

There has to be more info about her life out there somewhere... I will start looking it up eventually, it's unavoidable that I will stalk her down once I get to the color episodes.

Most beautiful horse I've ever seen. It's an Appaloosa or a Bay Roan or something like that.

I've seen them riding around here in years past, but to specifically come up to my house and whatnot lol... wow.
Holy shit.

Did they say anything to you?
05-15-2022, 04:47 PM
Yeah they were talkin' some neighborly talk.
It was all legitimate... but still really strange on the timing and just, the whole thing.

Matt's superior officer from Washington came to Dodge trying to tell Matt how to run the town, and almost got himself tarred and feathered. lol S2 E26 Ooooh... Kitty's mad. Some old drunk grabbed her arm, and she slapped him. There's gonna be trouble now.
