Lately I've been waking up in the middle of the night "surprised" to be alive...

Huh
So I'll just randomly wake up, be surprised that I'm alive, and then do "checks" to make sure I really am alive.

The checks are kind of random foggy things that only make sense in that half asleep, half awake state.

There's seemingly no reason for me to be "surprised" to be alive. This has been taking place for about 4 or 5 nights.

I figured I'd post this because this site is a study upon myself and I would be holding back potentially pertinent info if I withheld these recent experiences.

It really is surprising that we wake up with a sense of self and experiential continuity. When you go to sleep, you go completely away, with no guarantee of waking up, much less of still being you.

I've always thought so too.

It's really nothing short of miraculous.

I will admit to one method of the "checking" to see if I was alive... granted it really is the only one I remember or could explain in a way that even makes some sense outside of that in between sleep/awake phase.

I tried to recall how I was treated by people during the previous day to figure out whether or not they knew I was alive.

I find that eerie because it almost suggests the possibility of being dead but still hanging around and no one realizing you're there.

The question I asked myself was "Was I acknowledged; were they sad or happy" etc. as if I may have been dead and they may have been mourning me if my presence hadn't been acknowledged and they seemed sad.

I hope that makes sense.

But just to clarify, I'm never NOT acknowledged in my daily life, no one treats me like crap or anything. So it's not some kinda "I feel invisible" shit. No way.

Possibly you experiencing external interactions like an empath or you becoming a shaman that communicates with nature. Either way Reality is physically manifested by Constructive Interference and Destructive interference without both of these there is no corporeal shape body or volume. Like a Standing wave and its possible we have far more superluminal faster than c light propagation perturbances than we do normal matter, when Scientists mention dark matter in the Aether remember that faster than light speed is possible we have many examples now

For years, I have been called toward shamanism...

I find it to be more than coincidence that this is your impression of the situation.

I value your input VERY much.

I will be thinking about this.

I really believe this is about your consciousness becoming untethered from your ego (the stream of memories and so forth that you were born into as the person we refer to as "Annie"). That sensation of surprise is like "Oh... right... I'm THIS person with THIS body in THIS bed".

I commented on this idea here: https://www.sectual.com/thread-18560-pos...#pid153854

Or maybe you're saying something else entirely.
