Maybe it seems less salty because I'm so salty.

Salted butter isn't as salty as it used to be.
The sun isn't as yellow as it used to be. Is there a connection?? What's next?? Egg yolks??

salt is a necessary component in butter, allowing it to stay fresh longer. i love cooking things in salted butter! some brands are a bit saltier. i tend to put some sea salt in with it regardless. sodium is a very important nutrient, but needs to be kept in balance with magnesium and potassium, which most people tend to be deficient in these days. boost those and you'll get a salt craving. mmm.
egg yolks should actually be more towards orange. they are actually getting yellower and paler. i don't remember offhand which proteins and nutrients that indicates, but i do remember that the oranger yolks taste better. we all got some things to be salty over, but it's halloween season. bring the sweetness!

I always thought it was weird they even offer unsalted butter, let's be real. And it's not like it's salty enough to hurt anybody now anyways.

Plot twist...
Turns out the butter I currently have is unsalted and it looks like I've been getting unsalted unknowingly for a hot minute now... ![]()
But I swear, regardless, it's still not as salty as it used to be when it's the salty kind.
