The best conspiracy theory I heard was that the World Governments have near infinite resources available to them because of whatever advanced alien technology they acquired.

They have offworld colonies and space fleets, and collect even more resources from the other planets and asteroid fields.

They don't even need any of the taxes and resources they collect from their Earth populations, it's just to keep the status quo on Earth running the way it is.
