I dig coffee, I just like the way it smells and tastes. It's just nostalgia for me. I have a cup a day. I've been kicking it with decaf lately. I've heard too much caffeine is really bad for females. Not sure I even believe that, but I figure it's not worth the risk just in case it's true. I don't enjoy it as much without sugar and I kinda want that excess sugar out of my life, so that's another reason I'm planning to ditch the coffee.

This is an early vid from his channel that shows his wife. She looks like my childhood best friend who I knew from church, that's so weird. These are just two wholesome Christian peeps who have come together in godly union... it's heartwarming beyond words TBH.

She says that the motions themselves don't have to be perfect, it's more about the idea behind the motions.

But she doesn't say what the heck the idea or intention is.

So I'll have to keep looking for a teacher who actually explains it.

In her video specifically, I wondered why the "door" was "opened" and "closed" by seemingly only one leg/side of the body.

Gonna have to really look into this.

28:40 see, what I notice is that none of this natural fitness stuff is supposed to be strenuous. It's not supposed to be this crazy hardcore intense gym stuff you see people doing all over social media. It's like the difference between Western and Chinese medicine. One is based on the principles of nature, and the other is just wildly out of synch with the delicacy and subtlety of energy. This is fascinating.

28:55 the whole thing is just totally relaxing. It's chill, it's not forceful, it's not overbearing. I bet if you lived your life by these principles, you'd probably live to be pretty old. You'd have a better quality of life for a lot longer.

29:50 it seems to be all about mastering the body, and the energetic field as well. It's like a process of building familiarity of movement and muscle memory throughout the whole body from such a foundational level that I think eventually you'd be pretty hard to shake. I can see how this would result in minimized injury from random accidents and the like.

A ~10 min. tai chi routine would be the perfect thing to start the day with. And probably to end off the day too. Like roll outta bed and do some tai chi every day, you'd probably be doing pretty damn good in life.

33:16 it SEEMS simple, but it's actually a lot to remember... this is how I feel as a total beginner at least. I'll have to commit it to memory. There's way more to it than this though... apparently it advances into fighting moves.

So that interview is from Jan. 2023, and Hampton seems mostly the same as ever...

However I do think that he's changed in some ways due to his experience with popularity and wide reach.

I notice he's still in the same room with the same layout that he started out in, pretty sure he's called it his "office" after having gained millions of subs, gotten married and probably acquired another place to live, etc.

I think it's good he's kept things mostly the same because it's grounding, but I bet it feels different to him than it used to.

If he'd gotten super popular, sold out and prostituted himself to every sponsor who came along, he'd probably have moved to LA and gotten mega faked up or some shit. I'm glad he hasn't done that.

He should try to always keep the same place where he started the whole thing... I wouldn't give it up regardless of whether he has somewhere "better" to live, has a family, so on. You gotta keep something in your life that anchors you to the original vision. That's especially important when you started something from the ground up, by yourself, that turned into a massive success.

There must be a considerable level of stress and responsibility that has come with his popularity... that alone is enough to change a person.

He started out wanting to really connect with his audience, and now due to how successful the whole thing has been, he's strapped for time and can't really approach things the way he used to in the beginning.

This kind of stuff can really change people... it's fascinating because we yearn to be a success, but when we reach what we thought was the top of the mountain, it changes the way we see things.

Of course there are other mountain peaks beyond the first mountain, there's always more to climb... but I think once you reach the point of success and fulfillment, you KNOW there's massive change that comes with reaching the top of that NEXT peak. It may seem kind of questionable whether or not we should continue to climb. Because how will that next peak change who we are, how we see things, how the world responds to us?? What will be the cost?

It's an interesting study to me... binging on Hampton's vids and considering the differences between the oldest ones and the new ones has given me a deeper understanding of things. I didn't expect that, so I'm definitely grateful for having found his channel, for more than just the cool fitness approach and his great personality. It's been generally insightful.

I really think calisthenics and animal flow type exercises are the most useful types of fitness that you can possibly practice.

Lifting weights and running on a treadmill, all the usual gym crap, well it's better than nothing (obviously) but body weight exercises and exercising on outdoor terrain is FAR more useful than stationary gym-style exercises.

These types of natural exercises PREPARE you for all types of situations where you might need bodyweight strength to maneuver safely. Practicing falling in order to minimize damage and all of those preventative type fitness practices are where it's at.
