iPhone 4S
And this device has a backstory, which makes it even more special. I got this phone in 2012 after dropping my original iPhone 2 on a bathroom floor (at the Memorial University of Newfoundland) thus cracking the screen to oblivion.
Circa 2019, I was still intermittently using this as my main phone (there had been other iPhones in between though, funny story with that) until one day, I spilled a glass of water near the device and unfortunately the charging port was breached. It was fried. I figured it'd never work again and tossed it into a drawer.
The other day I decided to try and boot it up out of curiosity, and to my surprise, it actually fucking worked. The damn thing works like nothing ever happened.
Because it's an adorable, pocket-sized antique, I thought it would be fun to use it as a personal assistant. I carry it around in my pocket or leave it laying around wherever I'm hanging out at the time. I take notes on it frequently, use it for calendar/reminders, as an alarm clock, a flashlight, etc.
I've never found an iPhone to be quite this useful and enjoyable, even when they were new and exciting. I have to say, the quality is damn impressive, considering technically it probably never should have worked again due to that particularly liquidy user error.
As for my other iPhones... I had an iPhone 7 back when they first came out, but I got conned out of it by a smooth-talking young British man who played on my disdain of the device's lack of a headphone jack and an annoyingly non-flush SIM card slot, grievances which I've aired at length: https://www.sectual.com/thread-3410.html
I traded the iPhone 7 for an unlocked iPhone 6S Plus with superior storage and a headphone jack, and I was quite pleased with the arrangement.
A few years later, the 6S Plus glitched out and went into an eternal bootloop whenever a SIM card was installed... it works (mostly) without a SIM installed though, so I still keep it around. It comes in handy for some uses, but it's far too large to use as a handy personal assistant.
The iPhone 6S Plus is the *only* Apple product I've ever had that randomly glitched to the point of being unusable for its intended purpose, an actual phone.
I use Android exclusively as my main smartphone now, but my biggest gripe with Android is that it doesn't come with a pre-installed note taking app. That's some fucking bullshit right there, folks. Beyond that, IMO, Android wins... no contest.
I have no plans to ever purchase a new iPhone again, but I do still find these old devices useful for non-phone purposes.
