I shouldn't have used the word smut, I apologize...

Listen, it can be tasteful.

It really really can.

Pretty please?!?!?!?!?

This letter addressing some controversy back in 2011 reads in the same voice with the same punctuation and sentence structure as "Philosophy of Modern Song"...

That last paragraph though, lolwtf?!

Quote:Everybody knows by now that there's a gazillion books on me either out or coming out in the near future. So I'm encouraging anybody who's ever met me, heard me or even seen me, to get in on the action and scribble their own book. You never know, somebody might have a great book in them.

It has like nothing to do with the rest of the letter, lol, I love it!

Imagine the two of them meeting, him feeling the way he did... it would have been like some crazy "life is but a dream" kinda moment.

And the two of them being so shy that it didn't even go anywhere?

Quote:In a 1968 interview given by his mother, Beatty Zimmerman, she said, "He was a gorgeous child who just exuded personality. He had very blond hair. I put ribbons in his hair up to a year old. I used to say to him, Bobby, you should have been a girl."

Man that's just such a supremely fucked up thing to say to a kid, really weird and inappropriate behavior...

"Hey kid, I totally invalidate who you are, and I'm just gonna project my own warped wishes and perceptions onto you."

How awful.

I've always figured there had to be some kind of weird abuse or at least borderline abusive treatment of Bob in his childhood, considering how he left home as soon as he could and went on about his life as if he didn't really have any history.

Seems like he did his best to become somebody else and separate himself from the past.

Who knows what else went down when he was a kid.

I've heard of moms doing that kinda shit to their sons, dressing them up like girls when they were babies just because they were "pretty"... let me tell you, those men rarely turn out alright. It's a good thing Bob's personality and will were strong enough to kick past it.

TBH, this may be why he's into women's boots. For real. Not saying it's all that weird to be into women's boots if you're a man who probably has small enough feet to make it work. But there could be some crossover there on a psychological level.

I mean, if you're a male and your mom TELLS YOU that you should have been a girl? That's gonna leave an impression on you no matter how strong your mind/will are.

It's just straight up wrong.

I'd have left them behind too...

He did sorta reconnect a little bit after his dad died in 1968, but there was always something amiss about his family situation.

Quote:"I don't have any family. I don't dislike them or anything, I just don't have contact with them. It's easier to be disconnected than to be connected."

This is supposedly what he said about the topic of family in 1965. I can't find a direct source for the quote, but it sounds like something he'd say.

1:27 this was back in 1985 so that would be 2185... when I originally heard this part of the interview, I was pretty surprised. I've never heard anybody give a ballpark timeframe that spot on before.

Could be a lot of different things, but I've discussed this in the past...

https://www.sectual.com/thread-358-post-...#pid146630

I've theorized it might be asteroid Bennu, but it doesn't really matter.

It's pretty wild to think that Plato got 2400+ years of airtime and Bob Dylan's body of work is gonna get totally wiped out with the next reset. He barely lived out his own lifetime before it was all over.

This is not so much a comparison between Dylan and Plato as it is an acknowledgement that if there was enough time left, Bob's material would be discussed for thousands of years in just the same way.

I doubt he gives a shit, but I find it very interesting to contemplate.

How many Bob Dylans have there been in past Earth Ages? How many brilliant works have been lost to time, how many have been lost to these global calamities that wipe the surface clean almost like clockwork?

On board were the 12...

But this will not be a flood. There is nothing to board. There will be no escape. There will be nothing left. It'll be like we were never here, and none of this ever happened.

As enjoyable as Bob has been, he's one of the greatest our current age (totally not Golden) had to offer... but what we have achieved during this iteration of humanity, even with our limited space exploration, has been just a tiny step above caveman capabilities.

It's very obvious to me that we are in for a wipe-out. Humanity is compromised to its very biology. It's a global Sodom and Gomorrah.

The next rise of a human-like species which becomes technologically advanced will be during a Golden Age.

Bob didn't make it onto the Voyager "Golden Record" but at least Chuck Berry made it...

Of course, there's the wall of the bubble which stops it from going beyond our system, and since no one can get in anyway, the most we can hope is that lifeforms which evolve on other bodies within our solar system may find it someday.

That big ol' rock has been headed our way, Earth in its sights, every second of every day that we've been creating, committing atrocities, ruining our planet, ruining ourselves, ruining each other...

The tapestry of time and space is intricately woven and everything is connected.

If I was Bob, I would absolutely forbid this movie being made in the first place, but I'd especially forbid Chalamet portraying me. I'm serious, I'd be livid. But maybe Bob doesn't have any say in this at all, maybe there's absolutely nothing he can do about it from an official or legal standpoint. I dunno how that kinda stuff works, but I just know it's pretty likely they're gonna pull something incredibly disrespectful with this movie.

Bob is listed as Executive Producer...

Maybe that'll keep some of the unspeakable fuckery they were undoubtedly planning at bay.

If it turns out all pervy and gay even with Bob at the helm, I'm done.

I like Bob, but I don't like him that much.

You better keep that Chalamet fucker in line, Bobby.

I will say though...

James Mangold was responsible for a couple good movies...

"Kate & Leopold" (2001) was good.

"Knight & Day" (2010) was totally excellent, very fun and lighthearted film with many very funny moments.

I never saw his Johnny Cash biopic "Walk the Line" (2005) cuz I'm not hardcore into Johnny Cash like that. I've heard it was great.

Judging by the Mangold movies I HAVE seen, I don't really understand how he's the guy to tackle a truly good biopic about early Bob Dylan, but okay.

My issue isn't really with Mangold, it's with Chalamet. I just can't imagine him being capable of a character that isn't wrapped up in a pervy demented girly-boy saga.

Bob Dylan never struck me as a girly-boy, even in his young/babyfaced years, so I dunno why the hell they chose Timothee. I guess it's just cuz he's the flavor du jour amongst the audiences who will be willing to pay just to see him.

I am going in with low expectations for this movie and expecting it to harbor some offensive pervy shit...

I really hope it doesn't, but with expectations that low, it'll be hard to disappoint me.

Maybe I'll give it a chance after it comes out, after I see some previews. I dunno, I just hope they don't disrespect Bob's legacy with some filthy perv trash, that would be so gross.

Quote:The "Queen of Folksingers," that would have to be Joan Baez. I couldn't stop looking at her, didn't want to blink. She was wicked looking. Shiny black hair that hung down over the curve of slender hips, drooping lashes, partly raised, no Raggedy Ann doll. The sight of her made me high.
