A friend of mine loved that song. I thought it was a bit too repetitive.
I think they're using a gadget called the Oberheim Strummer to make some of the sounds. It's a fun retro effect to play with, although any old DAW can probably do the same effects now.

Damn, those things are going for $250 on Ebay now! Time to have a rummage sale.

Hmmm. The Strummer came out in 1991`, six years after that song was released. Maybe they played those bits on a Casio DG-20 connected to a MIDI tone module then. Just speculating, I have no idea.

I always liked the song (save for a couple different parts), but I probably have a more nostalgic experience with it than a lot of people might.
I just remember driving around Newfoundland listening to it circa 2011...
Any music set to that kind of scenery is gonna stick in your mind and be pretty much unforgettable.

Before that time, I'd vaguely heard the song before, but it was only during that timeframe in my life that I had it on a CD where I could actually listen to it.

Wish I could go there again.
But I guess I've been there enough.
I guess I shouldn't be greedy.
And so it is.

Now I know why they named it Nova Scotia. It looks like Scotland.

Yup, if you look at the map of the Mid Atlantic Ridge you can see that it quite literally tore off from Ireland/UK...

Only in the 70s/80s.
Absolutely gorgeous.

That video is a cool 10 million times better than the 'official' vid, lmao.
Not hating, just saying.

The song is, too. It's one of those "way better than I remember it being" songs. The chorus backing vocals are cool and catchy, but the ambient backing vocals are so amazing you almost don't notice they're there; they come off like a kind of texture. I love that old simple guitar riff shit, too. Not too busy but loaded with feel. This b-52's song, at 1:53...

It become almost like a nightly ritual.
They're totally trying to brainwash me with the repetitive as fuck chorus, calling ME the radio star.
But I listen anyway because it's just...
Agh, so good.

TBH like...
I'm not even into oral, but Trevor Horn has such a sexy mouth I really wouldn't mind having it suckling on my bits...
Just being real.

So what are you?
When I was a kid I played with comp-B
