Cursed objects?
#1
OK, I did a search of the forum and the results were zilch so I'm posting this as
its own thread instead of gunking up the "Actual Thoughts" thread. Even though
this was an actual thought I had earlier while washing the kittie dishes.

Is it possible for objects to be cursed? Now, I don't mean a single object - like a vase
or a box or a hairbrush. I mean an overall object. Like a Ouija board.

I've thought this for a very long time. That the very theme and construction of such
an object was cursed. Not the specific materials - the wood or paint or anything going into its
making - but the "template" I guess, the spirit of the idea of a Ouija board.

Sort of how the English language is thought to be cursed as it was created - most likely by
masons or other high-level occultists - to act as a way of casting spells by its users AND
those hearing it spoken, reading it written. That's a whole 'nother thread though.

But I was just wondering, if that were possible? Like "he who ever aligns these special
words and letters and numbers together shall open a portal to the dark dimension..."

In effect, making EVERY Ouija board cursed.

It's Monday bitches.

Hmmm...

In one way I think it'd be silly to answer a flat "no" to this question.

And on the other hand, I feel like one man's curse could be another's blessing.

Think about it...

Say there was an ancient artifact that had originally been "mass produced" (as much as was possible back during this theoretical time in history) and it was basically the ouija board of its day.

And say it was made of some kind of super durable material and it lasted intact in the ground for like 2000 years and then got dug up by some little kid in their backyard.

They're playing with it, thinking it's the coolest thing ever, maybe hide it away in a box fearing mom might confiscate it if she finds it.

And they keep it for years and to them, it's just a super cool maybe kinda shiny thing they dug up in the backyard when they were 7.

I feel like it's all about the meaning we put on things. I think that *might* be more powerful than configuration alone. But that's just how I feel about it at the moment.

That is certainly one way to look at it.
I guess I just revert back to all the negativity associated with that particular
object - over a great span of time - and it just seems like there's always been
something wrong, in a very dark way, with it at its core/essence and made me
wonder if it may have been built right into it at its conception level.

Anyway, I've never fooled with one, never will. Of course there's a lot of things
of a similar nature that I will never take part in but that board is at or very near
the top of a list of things that I want nothing to do with.

Loathe as I am to quote ANYTHING from the bible, I do have to mention that one
passage of "the dead knoweth not" because even though I think religion as a whole
is nothing more than a fear/guilt based control system, it's also got that broken clock
right twice a day thing going for it - I just don't think dead spirits are hanging around
in the afterlife waiting to feed us living beings all the hot juicy details about the other
side. Any interaction with non-human entities should be taken, if at all, with a boulder
of salt.

Just like walking through a dark alleyway, do you think you're going to meet the greatest
people there? Assume there are malevolent spirits out to trick you, use you or lead you
astray in ANY and EVERY interaction is my way of thinking. Keep those wits sharp.

My response wasn't necessarily directed at you C-Dub, I know you have your spiritual
eyes peeled - just more of an overall perspective on the matter. I skew very cautious if not
moderately paranoid when it comes to a lot of things. I don't trust easily, especially when it
comes to the unseen.
