Michael C. Hall starred in "Six Feet Under" (2001) where his GHOST DAD sometimes made appearances.

So the link isn't Christian Slater, or even Dexter...
It's MCH.
I haven't looked into whether the "ghost dad" thing was a trope before this.
It probably was. But as far as the Dexterverse is concerned, it dates back to 2001 with MCH in Six Feet Under.

Furthermore, in Resurrection, Dexter is sometimes sporting a black hoodie, Mr. Robot's signature attire... the piece belonged to a cyber security professional.
It absolutely is a nod to Mr. Robot.
Seems like in recent years, TV shows have been trying to take all the elements of PAST shows that were SUPER successful and mix 'em all together.
Brilliant in my opinion, and especially in this case, I don't mind it.
But really, since Dexter came out in 2006...
The truth is that Mr. Robot borrowed from Dexter.
And was very fucking successful at it, so it's all good.
Damn...
Like I said. Greatest show of all time.

At some point, I know I will have to brain dump all of my thoughts.
Even though I say it's the greatest show of all time, I know the Twilight Zone is the real greatest show of all time.
But as far as 'new' shows, Mr. Robot takes the cake.

Mr. Robot absolutely is not the greatest TV show of all time.
It isn't.
However, it IS a solid top 10 greatest TV show of all time IN GENERAL.
And for my personal list, it's in the top 5.
But depending on how I'm feeling at the moment you ask me...
I may say it is my favorite TV show and the greatest TV show of all time.
I hope that clears things up.

That show is a pretty solid mindfuck at times.

Mr. Robot S4 E7 "407 Proxy Authentication Required" is #20 in the highest rated episodes of all time on IMDb.
Elliot Villar (Vera) gave one of the most stellar performances in TV history...
This episode was so fucking magnificent that they aired it without commercial breaks.

I missed the boat on this one. I think I tried watching it and then Christian Slater popped in and I got distracted from continuing. He's just so ... CHRISTIAN SLATER. IT's like BAM, there's Christian fucking Slater with his closely set eyes and wicked brow and mousy ears and some kind of sweater and jeans combo.
I've heard from several friends that this show is in their top five all time. Maybe now is a good time to start in on it.
(By the way... have you seen Severance with Adam Scott, John Tutoro and Christopher Walken? I think it's next-level television.)

That's exactly how he was supposed to make you feel, and believe me...
Later in the show, the payoff for dealing with him anyway is so gold that if you knew right now, you'd be kicking yourself for not watching it sooner.
That's my take.

And honestly...
Whiterose is another reason to watch the entire show.
Leon is my favorite character and he doesn't come along til later too, so it's like the reasons to watch just stack up so hard.
But aside from Leon and Elliot, the Whiterose character is absolutely my favorite...
The story on this character is so intense and the payoff is absolutely insane.

I have a video speed adjuster add-on that I use on basically every single YT video, TV show and movie because a lot of it just runs too slow for me.
Mr. Robot is one of those shows. Best enjoyed at 1.2x IMO.

I cannot imagine having to watch some of these shows at regular speed... and especially in the case of something as slow as Twin Peaks, never.
