well lookie here! relatives of a guy gave out their DNA, which was cross referenced with a previously unsolved crime. they set up a sting to gather his DNA and matched it against the crime scene's.

I'm like 5% conflicted about it because I did make this post on another thread recently...

Long dead Jane/John Does are being identified through the advances made in the DNA/ancestry field. Killers who got away with their crimes for decades are being caught. It does restore a tiny fraction of my faith in humanity.

But the nefarious reasons behind cataloguing DNA *no doubt* outnumber the good, humanitarian reasons.
