Johnny and June died a few months apart in 2003. Two years later, in late 2005, James Mangold's "Walk the Line" Johnny Cash biopic was released.
I think they intend for Bob Dylan to be dead by the time his biopic comes out, which will ensure they make max money from it.
Introducing Bob Dylan to a young audience (via an actor who is already proven to make huge sales to his young fanbase solely owing to his good looks) will ensure music sales following the film's release.
His music catalogue was sold to Sony in 2021, a notoriously money hungry label which massively profited from sales following Michael Jackson's death (as just one example).
The only question in my mind is, will Bob's death be natural? Will it be ushered in by the dogs of doom from Crossroads lore?
Are they just making a 'safe' bet that Bob, soon to be 82, will die anyways within the next ~2 years?

Quote:Johnny Cash died four months after Carter's death, and Carter's daughter, Rosie Nix Adams, a month after that.

"Queen of the Damned" (2002) came out ~6 months after Aaliyah's highly publicized death and no doubt made far more money than it would have otherwise.
I'm just sayin'...
All eyes on Bob.

It makes the poor casting choice of Timothee Chalamet make a lot more sense...
What better way to charge his career and bolster his graven image into the realms of twisted hollywood legend, where mere actors start running their mouths about a lot more shit than they're qualified to, i.e. politics etc.
They want to charge their tool with Bob's essence.

I know Bob is elderly AF, but he's not quite ready to cut the cord...
If he dies, I do believe it's premature.
That's just my opinion at this juncture, based on the history of the players involved.

At least within the next ~3 years, I stand by this statement.

They're deleting historical Bob Dylan archive channels on YouTube en masse.
Basically any channels that ever uploaded a clip of him from any concert, interview, any clips from his movies, etc. are being terminated.
I assume when he dies, they will mass copyright claim all that type of content so they can reupload on it on official channels and get that $$$.

They deleted the Peter Stone Brown Archive...

It was ancient, so no one is safe from the purge.
I had to delete the Hearts of Fire clips I posted at the start of the thread...
Surprised they weren't nailed too, it's probably because they were unlisted.
The era of fan music videos is definitely over on YouTube, which is a shame because so many of those videos have been around basically since YT began.

People should be able to upload fan/tribute music videos... very lame and soulless for this to not be allowed.

The money hungry corporate vultures are already encircling Bob Dylan's legacy and he's not dead yet. I guess they anticipate that he will be... pretty eerie and kinda gross.

The SAG-AFTRA strike has delayed the filming of his (wholly unnecessary and cringily casted) biopic yet again. Chalamet must be so perturbed that he's spent several years learning how to mimic Bob Dylan, who he undoubtedly didn't even like or care about, just to have this project delayed yet again. A lot of people think that it'll never be made now. People are pretty naive. It'll probably come out at just the perfect "coincidental" time to coincide with his death.

I'm not trying to rush Bob into the grave or anything, but the man is 82 and so many of his contemporaries have been dropping lately. He knows it, they know it. The bell tolls for everyone eventually. The money hungry greed shit is what really disgusts me about it though. Can't say Bob's never been money focused or greedy himself though... he certainly has, so I guess this is what he gets. I sure do like that feller though, I'll hate to see him go.

He's a leftover/remnant of some strange, super old line of the human animal. You can tell by the way he looks, certain features like stature, his facial build and his teeth. A fascinating specimen most certainly.

That's exactly where this is going and I totally hate it.
I can just see it now...
Bob Dylan dies, his biopic comes out, all the mindless retarded Chalamet fans flock to theaters to see their aging twink in the role of some old dead guy whose music they've probably never paid any attention to...
Twinkie Timmy's portrayal of Bob will make them curious about his music, then they'll get their parents to buy his greatest hits release that'll probably come out at the same time.
Gross, just gross.

There is so much dumb shit in this world that I just cannot stand.
How can you really have any respect for humanity when they're this way.

At the beginning of Hearts of Fire, Bob's character rides his motorcycle through the toll booth where Fiona works, and she's blasting a new song from the lameass pop idol du jour (James) who she's obsessed with... and Bob yells "IT SUCKS!" as he's riding off.
That's how I feel about Timothee Chalamet.
Some people think once the producers saw him in the trailer for the Willy Wonka prequel/reboot (also totally cringey and beyond unnecessary), they got cold feet and were like okay, you know what, we really don't want this guy playing Bob.
I don't think that's the case, but I do think it's hilarious.
